The new 500 car Parking Structure and site Improvements to the South Mountain Recreation Complex project involved the creation of a unifying plan for disparate pieces of a recreation complex that included a popular zoo and an ice hockey arena. Commissioned under the Essex County Park System, the parking structure, together with the new site and pedestrian walkway systems designed by the firm result in an uncomplicated and welcoming gateway into the recreation complex. The design elements of the new deck incorporate unifying materials and architectural treatments such as decorative brick piers, banners and large graphic display panels, to help unify the many buildings.
